Putting the old content of this page here so it can be preserved under Retrospective later...
Missions are one of the Multi-player features in BigFarm that encourage Collection and Selling competitions between farmers. Click on the icon with the Blue Ribbon to browse available Missions. Each Mission gives a task that needs to be started at a certain time and finished within the duration given. You'll want to make sure you are online from start to finish and have a good strategy if you hope to win.
Some Missions are given as part of the quest line and need to be done if you want the reward, however, you can choose whether or not to participate in this aspect of the game beyond that.
Most Missions need a certain number of Reputation Points to start and you can lose them if you don't win, but the game will allow you to compete anyway even if you have none, so you can try to win them back. The Reputation Point cost per Mission depends on the Mission.
The maximum number of farmers that can participate is 10. In most cases, they are all around the same level, but mismatches have been known to happen. The upcoming rework of Missions is supposed to address this and other issues.
All participants are rewarded, but the best prizes are reserved for the Top Three most productive farmers. Rewards include Farm Cash, Gold, Experience Points, and additional Reputation Points. The amount of each depends on how you rank at the end next to other Farmers.
Strategies
- Use Farm Boosters
- Books from the Library
- Humus on Fields, Gardens, & Meadows
- Make sure production facilities are upgraded as high as you can go
- Plant or start production of the item you'll need to collect early, but wait to harvest it until after the Mission starts
Player Criticism & Controversies
- Gold gives unfair advantages to some players
- Competitor levels and abilities are often not well matched
- Since all participants are rewarded no matter what, they can join Missions just for the consolation prize, even if it means losing Reputation Points.
